BOTA BAGGERS CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY

At a special club meeting held Tuesday, December 4, 2001, the Bota Bagger Ski Club celebrated
its twenty-fifth anniversary. The club was started by Billy Wilson of Pleasanton, who was tired of
traveling to Inskier club meetings in San Mateo. Past Presidents were all given special invitations by
Barbara Dougan, this years President, to join the club for dinner, and those attending included
George Sanford, Dick Sites, Bob Weaver, Bob Southern (also a charter member) Bob Fletcher, Lee Goldman,
Gary Brannan (currently our Race Director) and Jan Scharnikow (our immediate Past President).

Many stories and memories were recalled. The interesting thing is that over a 25 year period, things
really have not changed. While many of us eagerly await ski season, some club members do not even ski.
During the summer and fall months, we still river raft, water ski, play golf and tennis, camp, hike, bicycle, etc.
The past Presidents seemed impressed that this years racing team appears to be shaping up with twice
as many racers as last year. The Bota Baggers may once again be in contention for first place in Singles
League Racing.

The standing room only crowd was treated to a delicious carrot cake at the end of the festivities.
A great time was had by all, from the charter member to the new Bota Baggers that were attending their
first meeting.
